Apple Computer Inc.

Apple Computer Inc. has a huge web site with nearly everything you ever wanted to know about Macintosh computing. Of particular interest to Nisus Writer users is their overview of WorldScript technology. WorldScript is the basis of Apple's Chinese and Japanese Language Kits, which work seamlessly with Nisus Writer for full Chinese or Japanese word processing power.

CodeWarrior

Metrowerks CodeWarrior is the ideal development platform for both 68k and PowerPC-native Macintosh applications. Nisus Software's QUED/M text editor integrates seamlessly with CodeWarrior to form the ultimate programming enviornment.

EndNote Plus

EndNote Plus, from Niles & Associates, is an excellent stand-alone database for keeping track of bibliographic information. It works in conjunction with Nisus Writer to give you quick acces to your references and to keep them properly formatted.

Frontier

Nisus Writer and QUED/M both ship with the runtime version of Frontier, a system-level scripting system. Any Frontier command can be activated from within Nisus Writer or QUED/M, and Frontier commands can also be embedded in either application's macros. For even more power and flexibility, the full version of Frontier, currently at 4.0b1 (the "Aretha"release) can be downloaded for free from the Aretha Website.

FTP Sites

Nisus Software's ftp site is your official source for updates, demos, and other useful stuff. An unofficial ftp archive at the University of Kansas contains reviews, macros, lessons, and other items submitted by users worldwide.

HTML Macros

Sandra Silcot is a Nisus Writer user who has developed an outstanding set of HTML macros (in fact, we used them to create this very page--thanks, Sandra!). Linguistics

The Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) does work in linguistics, translation, and literacy all over the world. They have a variety of linguistics software available through their web site, including International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) fonts for Macintosh and Windows.

MacLink Plus

Nisus Writer 4.1 now includes portions of the MacLink Plus file translation package from DataViz Inc. for compatibility with Macintosh Word and WordPerfect files. MacLink Plus is a great choice for Nisus Writer users who want access to a variety of text and graphics formats. Registered users of Nisus Writer can upgrade to the full MacLink Plus/Easy Open Translators package, with dozens of translation options, for only $39.95 (suggested retail price $109.00). MailKeeper URL Database

This database contains 1,500 URLs (Uniform Resource Locators). These are live links to web pages all over the World Wide Web. Drag (or copy) any URL into a web browser like Netscape and instantly jump to that site. This database can only be opened by a full, registered version of MailKeeper. Click to download.

MathType

Design Science Inc. is the creator of MathType, Nisus Writer's built-in equation tool. Although we include the full version of MathType, it can only be used within Nisus Writer. Registered users can upgrade to a stand-alone version for a special low price. Check out this link for everything you ever wanted to know about MathType.

Nisus Mailing List

An unofficial Nisus mailing list is maintained by user Fred Terry. This is a forum where you can share questions, tips, and complaints with hundreds of other Nisus Writer users. To subscribe to the Nisus mailing list, send e-mail to listserv@listserv.dartmouth.edu. In the body of the message (no subject is required), include the line

subscribe nisus Your Name

To post messages to the list, send them to nisus@listserv.dartmouth.edu.

Nisus Writer Help

This stand-alone DocMaker document by Matt Neuburg gives you a quick reference to many of Nisus Writer's features, including ruler/style use, keyboard shortcuts, find/replace metacharacters, and macro commands. Power Computing Corp.

Apple's first licensed clone maker, Power Computing makes some serious computers, including the world's fastest single-processor MacOS-compatible, the PowerWave 150. Oh, and by the way--Nisus Writer is now included free with all new Power Computing computers!

TidBITS

TidBITS, a weekly electronic Macintosh newsletter, is edited by long-time Nisus user Adam Engst. The TidBITS Web Page has back issues of the newsletter, information on subscribing, and other resources of interest to Macintosh users. Adam's wife Tonya, who is also a TidBITS editor, is an authority on Macintosh word processing and shares her expertise in her World of Words page. TOURBUS

TOURBUS is your guide to the most interesting sites on the internet. In addition to the TOURBUS Home Page, TOURBUS offers one of the internet's largest mailing lists. Each electronic edition will guide you to new and exciting places on the 'net.

Web Browsers

If you want to take full advantage of our image map, forms, mailto: URLs, and assorted enhancements, you should check out Netscape. Another spiffy browser that's especially good for the RAM-impaired is the free MacWeb.

A very cool commercial web browser that also happens to have e-mail, ftp, telnet, gopher and just about every other internet capability built-in is TCP/Connect II by Intercon.

The Well Connected Mac

If you're looking for more information about virtually anything Macintosh, you'll probably find it at The Well Connected Mac web site. Among other things, you'll find links to nearly every imaginable vendor of Mac products, hardware and software reviews, and an easy route to major archives of Mac shareware.
